Can I join a commercial pilot course after 12th?

Yes, you can join a commercial pilot course after completing your 12th grade, provided you meet certain criteria. Here’s a detailed overview of the steps and requirements:

Eligibility Criteria:
1. Educational Qualifications:
– Science Stream: You should have completed 12th grade with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as core subjects.
– Minimum Marks: Many flight schools require a minimum of 50% in PCM, though this can vary.

2. Age Requirement:
– You should be at least 17 years old to start training.

3. Medical Fitness:
– You need to obtain a Class 2 Medical Certificate initially, and eventually a Class 1 Medical Certificate, from a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved medical examiner (for India). Similar authorities exist in other countries.

Steps to Become a Commercial Pilot:

1. Join Aircamp Aviation Academy

2. Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Training:
– After obtaining your PPL, you will undergo CPL training, which requires around 200 hours of flying time.
– This training includes advanced flight training, night flying, and instrument flying.

3. Theoretical Exams:
– You will need to pass written exams in subjects such as Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulation, Technical General, and Technical Specific.

4. Flight Training and Skills Test:
– You will undergo rigorous flight training and must pass a skills test conducted by a certified examiner.

5. Obtain the CPL:
– Once you complete the required flying hours and pass the theoretical exams and skills test, you will be issued a CPL.

Additional Training:
– Type Rating: To fly a specific type of aircraft, you may need to undergo additional training known as Type Rating. This training is conducted after obtaining your CPL and is often sponsored by airlines once you are hired.

Career Path:
– After obtaining your CPL and Type Rating, you can apply for jobs with airlines or other aviation companies. Initially, you might start as a co-pilot and, with experience, move up to the position of a captain.
